Event Details: 🎬Clean North and the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will host a free screening of the eye-opening documentary This Film Is Garbage—a must-see for anyone who wants to save the planet without losing their sense of humour.📅 When: Earth Day – Tuesday, April 22, 2025🕡 Time: 6:30 p.m.📍 Where: Main Library Branch, 50 East Street💬 Bonus: A lively discussion with guest speakers (lots of trash talk, we promise!)Directed by Canadian filmmaker Andrew Nisker, best known for his groundbreaking doc "Garbage! The Revolution Starts at Home," this new film digs deep into the mess we make—and how we can clean it up. Following several families on their waste-reduction journeys, "This Film Is Garbage" proves that one person’s trash can become another person’s inspiration.“The film explores what happens to some of the items we think are being reused or recycled and offers suggestions that we all can do locally to reduce the need for a landfill,” says Clean North Vice Chair Peter McLarty. And guess what? One of the families featured in the film lives right here in the Sault. “This family agreed to save and document all of their trash for three months and were amazed by the amount that they were able to divert,” Peter notes. In the long run, waste diversion saves us money, too. Sault Ste. Marie’s current landfill is nearing the end of its life, and expanding or replacing it will cost millions.🎟️ Admission is free, but space is limited🗑️ Whether you’re a zero waste warrior or still working on remembering which plastics are recyclable, this event is for you.
