Event Details: Three grand openings for upgraded city parks have been scheduled for this spring, members of the Sault Ste. Marie parks and recreation advisory committee were advised this week.

Rosedale Park, recently renamed Kiwanis Park, will welcome everyone at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday May 14, recreation supervisor Jari Pihelgas told a committee meeting.

"There's going to be lots of games and giveaways," Pihelgas said.

"We'll have some snacks and stuff for the kids. We'll try to get the local community involved."

The other two park re-openings will be in June.

"We're going to have two openings in one week, Westwood and Parkland. Those were the two parks we revitalized last year.

"So we're partnering with the schools next door, Holy Family at Westland and obviously Parkland, beside Parkland. June 9 is Westwood, at 1 p.m.

"June 13 is Parkland at 1 p.m. We'll include schools, members of council, I believe the mayor will be there to say a few words."
